Sports Flooring
Overview
When selecting flooring for a sports hall, the primary considerations are durability, safety, performance, and comfort. Sports halls are subject to heavy use and require flooring that can withstand high-impact activities, provide good traction, and be easy to maintain. The right flooring can also enhance the performance of athletes and reduce the risk of injuries.
Sports flooring comes in the form of vinyl sports flooring (point elastic) or timber sports flooring (area elastic). EN14904 is the European Standard for indoor sports floors and quantitatively measures a number of indoor sport surface performance characteristics such as:
1. Shock Absorption – the ability of the sports floor to absorb pressure.
2. Deformation – A given test load is dropped from a given height.
3. Friction
4. Ball Bounce
5. Rolling Load
Junckers have a solution for both fixed and portable sports flooring requirements. They are proud to be the official global FIBA supplier. Their floors are produced to conform to EN14904 and achieve A3 and A4 classification under this standard for area elastic sports floors.
Gerflor Taraflex vinyl sports flooring has been selected as the sports flooring for many of the Olympic Games since Montreal in 1976 and are leaders in the manufacturing of vinyl point elastic sports floors.
